Magic of Wood 2023

This year too, Magic of Wood returns: on Sunday 3 September, from 10.00 am, the streets and courtyards of Sutrio are transformed into an open-air laboratory where artisans and artists work wood as per tradition, with chisels, gouges, pyrographs and lathes. Click here to consult the brochure.

This year the party starts on Saturday 2 September:

From 5.00 pm in the Multifunctional Hall (via Roma 35/A) architects, designers and artisans present “Creatives and Carpenters for Sutrio – Spreading the magic of wood”: a project, as part of “BoB. Il Borgo nel Bosco – Il Bosco nel Borgo”, which foresees areas of sharing and development for the community, which local artisans will create with wood.

Followed by a toast for the start of this new edition of the Magic of Wood in Sior Matie’s Ort (entrance from via Linussio).

Subsequently we will move along via Linussio to light the new “SUTRIO” sign which will welcome us to our town. The writing was created by Marta Muser, a local artist who, to create the individual letters, more than one meter high, used strips of local fir covered with waste material entirely recovered from the rivers and woods of the But Valley after the Vaia storm.

To conclude the evening, at 8.30 pm in the Oratory (via Don Giacomo Candido 2) there will be a concert by “Coro Sutrio Incanta”.

On Sunday 3 September there will be more than 50 artists who will give life to the Magic of Wood in Sutrio: a new edition of the festival dedicated to wood and craftsmanship.

Along the entire Via Roma and up to Piazza XXII Luglio they will exhibit their works and demonstrate their artisan expertise. Among them also Corrado Clerici, author of the Saint Joseph of the Sutrio Nativity Scene in the Vatican, Lorenzo del Negro and Isaia Moro, who created the Cramar for the Nativity scene.

You will have the opportunity to try it too with the lathe, pyrography and carving workshops for adults. And for children: woodworking workshops and a play area in front of our office, in via Linussio 1.
